I'm quite a fan of boomboxes/ghettoblasters, as you might have seen in this previous posting. So it's hardly surprising that I like the upmost picture by Brooke Nipar, who has worked for clients like Wrangler, Converse, Foam Magazine, Marie Claire Magazine and Nylon. Most of all I like her every now and then updated diary blog.

gute aussichten – junge deutsche fotografie is a project set up in 2004 as a private initiative in support of talented young photographers. The core element of the project is an annual competition for final portfolios submitted to all German universities, universities of applied sciences and academies offering a course of study in photography. The exhibition gute aussichten 2009/2010 at Marta Museum in Herford is shown until January 10th 2010.

Dionisio González

Dionisio González is an artist educated at different universities in Spain. In his most recent works, the artist takes a critical stance on the architecture and social culture of the favelas in the Brazilian megalópolis of São Paulo. He inserts new building structures into his photographs of the favelas via computer.
But Dionisio González is not only interested in the aesthetic aspect; his works also have a social facet. The artist is involved in a continuous discourse with the mayors' offices in the various favelas surrounding São Paulo, to find ways to transform some of the building structures he has designed into reality.
