uns ich er

uns ich er: is a new book from the linguist Beat Gloor, designed by Zurich-based designbureau Prill-Vieceli. The book is about word breaks, you can read the German words in two ways. The design of the book is kept simple with black letters on white paper, format A4 - which is suitable to the content. Great design, great book - you have to "read" it!

Braun flickr set

Marvellous flickr set of Braun products. Flickr-member photonium collected these objects from flea markets, the b&w pictures are taken in the munich design museum. The design of Braun products, most of them created by Dieter Rams who worked as product designer for Braun from 1955 until his retirement in 1998, has influenced several generations of designers.
The iPhone's calculator app is an obvious tribute to the 1977 Braun ET44 and ET66 calculators.

Good Design, Good Business

Markus Löw, 'Acaralate 2E Geigy', ca. 1967, Photo: Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, Umberto Romito © ZHdK

The J. R. Geigy A.G. chemical concern was the starting point for a great moment in the history of Swiss graphic art and advertising. "Research for tomorrow" – the former Basle-based company also lived up to this forward-looking slogan in its communication: its design was intended to increase sales of products "made in Switzerland". The exhibition 'Good Design, Good Business' from 4.2. – 24.5.2009 at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich is the first comprehensive show of this important Swiss contribution to the history of design, presenting works from well-known Swiss designers like Gottfried Honegger, Max Schmid, Herbert Leupin and Karl Gestner. More pictures can be found here at werbewoche.ch.
'Corporate Diversity – Schweizer Grafik und Werbung für Geigy 1940-1970' is the well designed publication accompanying the exhibition, edited by Karin Gimmi, Andres Janser, Barbara Junod, R. Roger Remington and Yvonne Zimmermann. Design by norm.

Movie poster remix

Olly Moss, born 1987 in the UK, is an outstanding designer and illustrator. His minimalistic movie poster remixes strip to the essential content of the films. My favourite is The Deer Hunter.

sharesomecandy.com

Sharesomecandy.com is a curated site of design and art inspiration that can have unlimited contributors. Each post has nothing other than the image and a "via" text link to the site where the image was found. There are no titles (just two forward slashes "//" to allow for a permalink in case someone wants to link back), no categories, keywords or comments. Just pure eye candy. Contributors can post from either their own blog or from someone else's. Guest entries are initially curated, and eventually contributors become guest authors.
The end result is an ever-changing resource of visually fresh and inspiring material. Some might compare the concept to ffffound. The contributors themselves will be anonymous. So, you can totally post things from your own blog, without looking like you're promoting it directly.

Städtebau in Zürich

Daniel Kurz

Das Buch erscheint im gta Verlag Zürich.

"In Melbourne I developed a way-finding-system for the Eureka Tower Carpark while working for Emery Studio. The distored letters on the wall can be read perfectly when standing at the right position. This project won several international design awards." Axel Peemöller
