Dionisio González

Dionisio González is an artist educated at different universities in Spain. In his most recent works, the artist takes a critical stance on the architecture and social culture of the favelas in the Brazilian megalópolis of São Paulo. He inserts new building structures into his photographs of the favelas via computer.
But Dionisio González is not only interested in the aesthetic aspect; his works also have a social facet. The artist is involved in a continuous discourse with the mayors' offices in the various favelas surrounding São Paulo, to find ways to transform some of the building structures he has designed into reality. KARAOKE - Photographic Quotes

Seems familiar? We are constantly bombarded by images and information – at school, at work, in newspapers and on the web. All of these stimuli carry a multitude of underlying codes. Day in and day out, we navigate our way, more or less successfully, through a torrent of texts and images, subtle advertising messages and hard facts, official instructions and personal messages. New and long-established media alike vie for our undivided attention. What we tend to overlook is the fact that we are increasingly subject to a second, media-dominated reality in which we are no longer directly involved.
The exhibition KARAOKE – Photographic Quotes with works by Becky Beasley (GB), Thomas Galler (CH), Aneta Grzeszykowska (PL), Thomas Julier (CH), Anja Manfredi (A), Ryan McGinley (USA), Taiyo Onorato / Nico Krebs (CH/CH), Clunie Reid (GB) and Oliver Sieber (D) quietly flags up the relationships and juxtapositions that permeate our casual, everyday navigation of parallel worlds. I'm completely thrilled by the work of French-based Eric Tabuchi. I couldn't decide which of his series to post, so I chose the picture "Anatomy" of his "Various Ruins Serie" and the overall view of "Le Zoo des Marques" (Zoo of brands).
Also amazing: TWENTYSIX RECYCLED GASOLINE STATIONS, Mobile Ville and Monuments 1 & 2. Superbe, Eric!

Stefan Heyne

Amazing unreal pictures by Stefan Heyne, who creates photography art using a unique blurring technique.
"The Berlin-based artist Stefan Heyne (born in 1965) works in a constant exploration of the boundaries between painting and photography. His photographs are never descriptive and don't seek to depict visible reality. Instead, his motives attain autonomy by renouncing the notion of reproduction - a quality long considered to be central to the medium.
Heyne's works are characterised by a vigilant manipulation of the obscured detailing of the objects and spaces shown. The allure of his prints lies in the magical spectrum of their colours, their velvety surfaces and their quality as objects." (photography-now.com)
Stefan Heyne's book "THE NOISE" can be ordered at amazon.de or buch.ch.

Jan Henrik Hansen

My dear Zurich-based friend Jan Henrik Hansen is currently materialising a number of musical pieces or parts of them, including melodies, rhythms or even single sounds/chords for an exhibition in 2010. Above find a polyuretane sculpture translated from a bassline of five modulated notes. Music known to the author. Size 1.8 m in length. Henriks sculptures are translated from various musical pieces with custom tools invented and patented some years ago.

The Image Fulgurator is a device for physically manipulating photographs. It intervenes when a photo is being taken, without the photographer being able to detect anything. The manipulation is only visible on the photo afterwards. Got it?
